comme beaucoup, le lecteur de dvd de mon g3 400
a rendu l'ame je lai remplacé par un graveur (interne) matshita
qui est reconnu sans pb par toast etc
mais big pb pas moyen de bouter dessus
ne veut meme pas redemarer sur un cd d'instal

en effet, ton lecteur optique Matsushita UJDA340 est tout à fait compatible avec la pomme. en quel position l'as-tu paramétré ? surtout pas d'automatique, s'il est sur une nappe indépendante du DD il faut le mettre en Master (sinon en Slave).

dans ce post relevé sur le site xlr8yourmac, l'auteur nous indique qu'il est apparemment impossible de booter sur le cd-rw, quel que soit la position du cavalier... je n'ai trouvé aucune solution pour l'instant, mais il doit bien y en avoir une !!!

Reader Comments: The Matsushita UJDA340 CD-RW is a great upgrade for my Powerbook G3 "Lombard". It does it's job perfectly and is quite fast.
Burning 
Burning works with Toast Titanium and - after having modified the Matshita Authoring Support File - with Disk Burner and iTunes 2. Deleting CD-RWs in the finder is possible. Retrospect Express 5 is supported too. Disk Copy 6.5b11 is not supported by this drive.
I have burned several Mac and Windows CDs with Toast and it worked fine. Also I used iTunes2 to burn an audio CD and Disk Burner to burn a Mac/Windows CD... no problem.
Booting 
You CAN'T boot a Lombard Powerbook with this drive. I have tried the "C"-key, the control panel Startupvolume, Command-Option-Shift-Delete and Open Firmware. The drive is set to slave, but I DON'T think that this is the problem, because I was able to boot with the original apple CD-Rom Drive set to slave (at least using Open Firmware).
Faceplate:
You can't use the faceplate of the original CD-Rom drive for the CD-RW drive.

For advanced users:
The Open Firmware boot code mentioned here at xlr8yourmac does not work on a Lombard Powerbook. Instead you have to write the following string after the Open Firmware prompt:
boot
/pci@80000000/mac-io@10/media-bay@34/ata-3@21000/@1:8,\\:tbxi
This works for a CD-RW drive (or CD-Rom) that is slave (1) and were the System Folder is on partition 8 of the CD.
If your CD-Drive is master (0) write
.../@0:8,\\:tbxi
If the drive is set to slave (1) and the System Folder is on partition 9 write
.../@1:9,\\:tbxi
But as noted: This code only works with the original CD-Rom drive
(If you have an other mac portable: write "dev / ls" after the Open Firmware prompt to know the "address" of you CD-Drive.)

en lisant un autre sujet il semblerarit que ça boot en appuyant sur Alt au dém.
je vais refaire la manip aujourd'hui et je vous tiens au courant |

Alt au démarrage, puis rafraichir (flèche de gauche), ça peut aider.
